How Affiliate Referral Codes Work

Common questions

How does an Affiliate Partner get credit for a sale?

The buyer must use the partner's referral code during checkout.

This can happen in either of these ways: - opening a partner link that includes ?ref=CODE - typing the referral code manually in website checkout before creating the transaction - in Discord checkout, selecting Apply Affiliate Code after choosing payment method and duration

If the buyer was not referred by an official Affiliate Partner, they should continue checkout without a code.

When is the referral code locked in?

The referral code is stored when the transaction is created.

Once a transaction exists, support should treat that stored code as the source of truth for attribution.

Can support add or change the affiliate after payment was sent?

Not through the normal checkout flow.

If there is a dispute or exceptional case, an admin must review it manually.

Where can staff check which affiliate was attached to a sale?

Staff can check: - the admin transactions page - the owner approval message for the transaction

What happens if the buyer enters an invalid code?

Checkout rejects the transaction creation and asks for a valid code.

In Discord checkout, the buyer can retry with another code or continue without a code.

Can buyers use their own affiliate code?

No. Self-referrals are rejected.

Do affiliate codes work after payment confirmation?

No. The code must already be attached when the transaction is opened.

What should support say if a buyer forgot to use a code?

Tell them attribution is based on the code stored on the transaction at creation time. If they believe there is a valid exception, escalate it to an admin for manual review.
